Florida State might have been the biggest losers of the second week of college football. Losing to Jacksonville State, Seminoles fans are not happy. Currently, they are winless with two losses. While the Notre Dame win can be excused, this latest loss cannot be. An FCS loss cannot be excused when you are Florida State, though.

For one Seminole football player, things weren’t all bad. While his team faced their most embarrassing loss in years, this player wasn’t going to let the moment escape. Once you make a plan for something like proposing, it is hard to divert. Surely, he hoped to have a win on the same night, but you have to make due. However, it was a little hard for fans to understand on social media.

Look, the loss was bad. Very bad. However, it is great to see that these two know there are some things bigger than sports. One thing is clear, fans take losses a lot more personally than players do many times. While it was a historically bad loss, the Seminoles have to get up and get ready for Wake Forest. The only way for them to finish the year 10-2 is to win the next game.

However, that doesn’t mean that Coach Mike Norvell isn’t responsible for doing a little PR work following the loss. The feelings of fans and boosters have to be protected, so Norvell released an apology. At the end of the day, he is the one making millions of dollars, he should be held accountable. In the message, he took “ownership” of the loss and explained that the team has better days ahead. Next up is Wake Forest, the Demon Deacons.

Florida State Faces Uphill Battle

There is no doubt that the Florida State Seminoles have talent on their roster. While recruiting success hasn’t been what it has been in the past, it isn’t in the gutter. They are continually bringing in four-star and a sprinkle of a five-star here and there. For the team to collapse at home to Jacksonville State, is just unacceptable.

However, it isn’t the end of the world. Teams don’t win titles in the first two weeks of the season. With that said, I don’t see the Seminoles winning any titles this season. Despite that, they could win a bowl game if they get their act together in time. It remains to be seen, but Norvell seems intent on getting his Florida State squad back on track.

It all starts with a win against Wake Forest this week. After that, they have a date with the Louisville Cardinals. Those are two winnable games. Very winnable. Turnovers have to stop, the defense has to stand a bit stronger, and there needs to be an attitude change. If not, the Seminoles could end up 0-3 and spiraling the rest of the season.
