After a ton of anticipation, trash talk and hype, the night of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul fight finally arrived.
As many expected, Floyd Mayweather was the victor, but it didn’t come via knockout like some may have hoped. Instead, Logan Paul lasted all eight rounds against a boxing legend.
Granted, this was an exhibition from the jump, so always worth keeping that in mind.
The pair, along with Logan’s brother, Jake, had been jawing back-and-forth for the past couple months in the buildup. While Mayweather is arguably one of the greatest boxers ever, Logan Paul had the size advantage in the exhibition.
The fight got off to a fairly slow start as the pair felt each other out. Mayweather was definitely the more conservative of the two, as Logan Paul threw way more punches. The YouTuber also got the first flurry of hits in towards the end of the first round. That being said, the best connection of the round.
The second round was even less eventful, as Mayweather attempted to wear out his larger opponent. It appeared to be working, as the YouTuber and boxer clenched quite a bit after the second round.
The fourth round saw the fight open up a bit, as both competitors connected on some throws at the head. However, this is where it became clear that Paul was running out of gas. Mayweather, on the other hand, looked to step up the intensity.
The fifth and sixth rounds were primarily Paul hanging on to Floyd, while the latter looked for his chances. By the seventh fight, it was pretty much only Mayweather bringing any real offense.
Established boxing reporter Dan Rafael credited Floyd with wins in the matchup from the third to eighth rounds, while he had Paul winning the first two.
