On Monday (September 13), the Louisiana State University football team announced the daughter of assistant coach and former New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk experienced a tragic loss in his family. Faulk’s 19-year-old daughter, Kevione Faulk, has passed away.
In a Twitter post, the LSU football organization wrote, “We are heartbroken with the passing of Kevione Faulk. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Faulk family and all of those who love Kevione.”
The football team also said that Kevin Faulk’s daughter was part of the LSU Family. “We mourn the loss of a daughter, a sister, a friend, a classmate, and a colleague. We ask that all Tigers keep the Faulks in their prayers. And respect their privacy at this difficult time.”
Along with the team’s post, LSU Coach Ed Orgeron also took to Twitter to share his condolence for Kevin Faulk and his family.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Faulk and his family as we mourn the loss of his daughter Kevione. Her smile and personality will be sorely missed in our building. May she Rest In Peace.”
The New England Patriots Hall of Fame tweeted about the passing of Kevin Faulk’s daughter. “Our heart is broken for Kevin and the entire Faulk family today. Such devastating news. If you pray, send some prayers to the Faulks tonight.”
Prior to her passing, Kevin Faulk’s daughter was an LSU student. LSU Football also confirmed that she was a student worker for the team as well.
Kevin Faulk’s College & NFL History
Kevin Faulk attended LSU and started as a running back for the football in 1995. By 1996, he was voted to the College Football All-American Team by the Associated Press. In 1999, he graduated from LSU with a degree in Kinesiology and was drafted by the New England Patriots.
From 1999 until 2011, he played for the New England Patriots and was dubbed the team’s “Swiss Army knife” due to his various roles on the team. Besides running back, he was also a wide receiver. He was also a gunner and return specialist on special teams. About five years after retiring from the team, Faulk was inducted into the New England Patriot’s Hall of Fame.
Since leaving the New England Patriots, Kevin Faulk has gone on to coach at his alma mater, Carencro High School. He was an assistant coach and offensive coordinator from 2013 to 2017. He then was named Director of Player Development for the LSU football program and was in that role for two seasons. Faulk was promoted to running backs coach in 2020.
Along with Kevione, Kevin Faulk has two other children. He is also the cousin of NFL Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk and former NFL player Trev Faulk.
