Former Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch recently spoke to TMZ Sports about his teammate’s homecoming game. Branch expects there to be zero boos from the home crowd early on, which would make sense. Tom Brady led New England to six Super Bowl titles during his 20 years with the organization, so boos don’t exactly seem fitting.
It will be a strange sight during Sunday Night Football later tonight. Last year’s Super Bowl champion Bucs roll into Gillette Stadium with a 2-1 record. But it will be the first time Tom Brady has ever been on the opposing team within Gillette Stadium. He may never look more awkward in a Tampa jersey than when playing against the team that drafted him in 2000.
However, Branch doesn’t think Brady lining up on the other side of the field will warrant any hate from Patriots fans. He’s guessing that the crowd will receive him and former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski well. At least until later in the game when they connect on a huge play for the Bucs that is.
“I think these guys are going to be received well. They’ve earned that,” Branch said to TMZ Sports.
“There’s no way that the Boston fans will just sit back and be ok with Gronk catching a 40-yard, 50-yard pass,” Branch continued. “No, there will be some boos.”
“But, in the beginning, I do believe deep down inside these guys will be received well,” he added.
Tom Brady Posts New Hype Video Before His New England Return
This morning, Tom Brady posted a new hype video for his return to New England. And if you weren’t ready for the huge primetime NFL matchup yet, you will be after watching it.
The longtime New England quarterback left after 20 seasons in a Patriots uniform. He felt under appreciated after everything he had done for the franchise, and allegedly his relationship with head coach Bill Belichick had soured. That’s why Brady exited for Tampa and ended up winning his seventh Super Bowl in his first season with the Bucs. Meanwhile, the Patriots didn’t even make the playoffs without their longtime QB.
Finally, the gridiron matchup everyone has been waiting for is only hours away at this point. In preparation for the big game, Tom Brady shared the new hype video as he gears up to play his former team. At first, the video is a heartfelt ode to Brady’s time in New England.
But in typical Brady fashion, he’s not back in town to fraternize with old friends. The clip abruptly changes tune as Brady’s video becomes all business. It’s clear as can be that Brady only has one thing on his mind during his visit – to beat the Patriots.
