Surprise, Jake Paul is backing out of the Tyron Woodley rematch. The celebrity-boxer is claiming that since Woodley did not hold up his end of the bargain. That is, the former UFC champion has not gotten tattooed with Paul’s name. That was apparently the conditions for a rematch to happen.

However, it is clear from the comments that the YouTuber made regarding the situation, he isn’t interested in fighting. While many believe Tommy Fury is next up, there isn’t anything really motivating him to get back in the ring. He made the tweet saying he was retired and then went back on it.

One thing is clear, Woodley knocked his head around a couple of times and now it looks like Jake Paul is scared to get back in the ring with him. The scorecards can read whatever they want, Paul got knocked into the ropes and was saved by those same ropes. TMZ reported on the situation, and it looks like Paul is blaming the tattoo bet.

“It was [the bet] the loser had to get the tattoo. So, now, all the sudden he’s trying to change it to make it for the rematch?”

So, it comes down to this awkward standstill. If Woodley gets the tattoo there is no guaranteed fight. All that his team wanted from Paul was a contract before the tattoo was put on the skin. It makes sense for the former UFC fighter to have some assurances before getting a Jake Paul tattoo.

The Motivation of Jake Paul

These next comments really reveal the motivation behind Paul and his actions. The reason he does everything he does. If Woodley had gotten the tattoo, things would have been drastically different according to Jake. Honestly, the fact he is so open about it is quite shocking. I’m not sure if it is ignorance or arrogance.

“If he would’ve gotten the tattoo, like, now, and that clip goes viral, and everyone’s like, ‘Jake, do it! Do it!’ I’d be like, ‘I kind of have to do this.’ But he f$%&ed up.”

That’s it right there. Views, going viral, and peer pressure. These are the things that control Jake Paul at his core. There is no real fighting spirit in him. So many fighters would be dying to get back in the ring after that fight, regardless of the win. All anyone really remembers is Woodley knocking him down just to be saved by the ring.

Apparently, Jake Paul wants to take on Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson Fury. He is undefeated, the same as Paul, but he is a real boxer who fights real boxers. While Paul places him “at the top” of his wish list, I’m not sure if he is willing to fight a real boxer. We will have to see. Fury is ready for the fight and wants it. Also, according to Jake, he meets the right criteria.

“He’s undefeated. And then, yeah, he’s [Tyson Fury’s brother]. [H]e’s a real boxer. And he has like 4 million followers on Instagram which is good engagement.”
