The Cleveland Browns are one of the surprise teams of the 2020 NFL season with an 8-3 record and a solid shot at the playoffs. A big reason for their success is the play of their offense lead by Quarterback Baker Mayfield and Wide Out Jarvis Landry.
The wide receiver has emerged as one of Mayfield’s most reliable targets during the season and as they push for the playoffs. On the season, Landry has 46 catches for 614 yards and has made several big catches in big moments for the Browns.
Landry joined the Pat McAfee Show earlier this week to talk all things Cleveland Browns and NFL football. Among the topics during the interview were the resurgent Browns team and the chemistry possessed by players in the locker room.
The conversation between McAfee and Landry eventually turned to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the league.
NFL officials have been creative with scheduling games as the virus has wrecked havoc on the league. Teams with positive tests have placed numerous players in long quarantines due to the NFL’s policy on contact tracing. The situation has been so drastic that it has depleted entire positions groups.
This past weekend, the Denver Broncos were unable to suit up a quarterback for their game against the New Orleans Saints. Instead, the team went with a practice squad wide receiver lining up under center for the game. While he was a quarterback in college at Wake Forrest University, Kendal Hinton was largely ineffective against the Saints. The Broncos lost the game by a final score of 31 to 3.
Jarvis Landry Talks ‘Perks’ of COVID-19 Pandemic
Landry, however, tells McAfee there is a slight silver lining to the ongoing pandemic in that it creates an easier practice schedule.
“We are pretty much home the whole morning,” he says. “Then we go in for an hour or two hours for practice and then back home. I like that schedule. That’s the perk of the whole COVID-19 thing.”
