Few fighters have captured the minds of fans around the globe like Conor McGregor. His impressive record inside the octagon is only part of it. Additionally, the Irishman has a big personality, an even bigger mouth, and a hair-trigger temper. He has given the world several examples of this in recent years. The controversy that swirls around “The Notorious One,” only fuels his popularity. As a result, many people want to see him sign with WWE.

John Cena is among those who would love to see McGregor’s name on the WWE roster. Recently, Cena appeared on That Scene with Dan Patrick. During that show, he talked about his desire to see Conor McGregor transition to professional wrestling. “He’d be fantastic,” Cena said. “He is what we do. What he does is a little less predictable. Our surprises are getting people to show up at random, and trying to weave the choose-your-own-adventure to a different alley.”

He went on to talk about the surprises McGregor can expect in the UFC. “His surprises are getting a few teeth knocked out or getting an operation,” Cena noted that those things happen in WWE as well. After all, mistakes happen.  However, for wrestlers, they happen less frequently. On the other hand, the WWE superstar said, “In his profession, it’s not a mistake. It’s a certainty.”

The WWE Door is Open for Conor McGregor

Back in February, Conor McGregor shared a tweet from WWE Superstar Finn Balor. The wrestler shared a photo of three action figures standing in a miniature WWE ring. The figures were Balor, McGregor, and WWE EVP Triple H. The tweet caught Triple H’s eye.

The seasoned superstar shared McGregor’s post and proved that he always does what is best for business. His three-word tweet led many excited fans to sound off about how much they would like to see Conor McGregor among the ranks of WWE’s finest. Triple H told McGregor, “Just say when.”

Conor McGregor wouldn’t be the first MMA fighter to transition to WWE. Matt Riddle was in the UFC for about six years. Then, he moved to professional wrestling and made his debut in 2015. He signed to WWE three years later. Riddle also thinks that McGregor would be a perfect fit for the organization if he did the work.

Riddle told Sportskeeda, “He’s Conor McGregor. The guy puts butts in seats. The guy has a mouth on him. I don’t know if he would pass the PG WWE code. But, I guess he could do his best. At the end of the day, it’s like Jake Paul or any of them… I don’t know how they’re doing it but they get people talking, they’re controversial, they make money with fights and drama.”
