Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Blasted by Dave Portnoy: ‘Fake Gronk’

Dave Portnoy slammed Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce recently on Barstool Sports’ Pro Football Show where he called the tight end a “fake Gronk” and a “douchebag.”

Portnoy got into a heated debate with Deion Sanders over Kelce when the host asked Hall of Famer to rank the Chiefs’ player among the NFL’s top tight ends. Portnoy then interrupted with a question of his own.

“Where do you rate him in d–chebags?” Portnoy asked. “He’s the worst. Have you ever watched his TV show, which sucked? Have you ever seen the way he talks? [Catching] Kelce, or whatever that was called. Did you watch that, Deion [Sanders]?

“He’s a try-hard. He’s a fake Gronk,” Portnoy, a diehard Patriots fan, said.

Sanders defended Kelce, calling him a “good guy” and a great player. The Kansas City Chiefs recently nominated him for Walter Payton Man of the Year for his charity work, Sports Illustrated reported.

Portnoy admitted he hasn’t met Kelce. He said his opinions are based off the players’ former reality show and his play on the field.

Dave Portnoy Has History of Attacking Tight Ends

To his credit, Portnoy’s stance on Kelce has remained consistent. He’s repeatedly gone after the tight end, even as he’s smashed NFL records.

“I also hate Travis Kelce,” Portnoy said in a 2017 radio interview, according to Heavy.com. “He may be my least favorite player in the NFL. I f*****g hate that guy.”

And again, Portnoy said it was Kelce’s general demeanor that made him angry.

“He’s a very good player. He’s a great player,” Portnoy said in the interview. “But he’s just the biggest try-hard f*****g piece of s**t. Like every play he’s doing something … Every f*****g play he has to like go make it about him. If you like Travis Kelce, then you’re a scumbag.”

Earlier this season, Portnoy tweeted out his anger at Kelce after the tight end blamed himself for the Chiefs’ only loss so far this season.

Travis Kelce On Verge of Setting Another Record

Earlier this month, Travis Kelce became the first tight end in NFL history with five 1,000-yard seasons. He set the mark during the Chiefs’ Sunday Night Football 22-16 win over the Broncos on Dec. 6.

Now, he’s on the verge of setting another major milestone.

Kelce is 128 yards away from breaking George Kittle’s single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end at 1,377. Kelce has had more than 100 yards and 8 catches in five of the last six games. He’s also in the hunt for most receiving yards on the season. No tight end has ever led the league in receiving yards for a season.
