Lamar Jackson won his first playoff game on Sunday, January 10 against the Tennessee Titans. However, after the game, the Ravens’ quarterback refused to shake hands with any of the Titans.
Instead, he jogged around the field, congratulating his teammates and celebrating. He even gave an interview after winning, but he wouldn’t shake the Titans’ player’s hands.
Before a game in November, the Tennessee Titans’ entire team ran out onto the field onto the Ravens’ logo. As cameras all over the field captured, it looked like the Titans were stomping on the Ravens’ logo.
Not only did the Ravens take offense to this, but John Harbaugh and his coaching staff did as well. He and the coaching staff ran out onto the field to confront the Titans about it.
In the ensuing moments, Mike Vrabel and Harbaugh go into it, appearing to yell at each other. The referees actually had to step in and separate the two head coaches to ensure that nothing happened.
It is certainly evident that the Ravens took this to heart. After this Sunday’s game, Lamar Jackson chose not to shake any Titans’ hand. It seems that the link between the two is clear and obvious.
Lamar Jackson Doesn’t Shake Titans’ Hands After the Game
So, after the game, during his postgame interviews, Lamar Jackson was asked why he didn’t shake hands. His response was simple and concise before moving onto the next question.
He says that he sees no reason for him, or any Raven for that matter, to shake the Titans’ hands. Certainly, before this January 10 game, this topic must have come up in the locker room. Nonetheless, Jackson’s Ravens are moving on to the next round while the Titans’ season is over.
During the game, a handful of Ravens players gathered at the Titans logo to celebrate an interception. Clearly, in defiance of the Titans and their regular season antics, these logo events will strengthen the hate between the teams for years to come.
This is not the only time that teams and players like Lamar Jackson have taken offense to people on logos. In particular, this year, Juju Smith-Schuster’s TikTok dances were drawing the ire of opposing teams. The Pittsburgh Steeler was dancing on opposing teams’ logos before every game. Media, players, and teams took serious offense to it and worked to hold him to as few yards as possible.
