The Cleveland Cavaliers have been rebuilding since the departure of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving after the 2017 season. Kevin Love remains the only starter from that team. With the rebuilding process, the Cavs have brought in some players like Larry Nance and JaVale McGee who can hopefully make a difference. They have also drafted several young prospects who could carry the team forward. Two of them include the guard duo of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland.
In the first three games of the season, the Sexton and Garland duo averages a combined 46 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds per game. With the pair running the backcourt, the Cavaliers have the potential to do some damage. They started 3-0 on the season, so perhaps they can put together a playoff push if they keep it up.
Larry Nance Jr. Nickname for the Sexton-Garland Duo
Honestly, Larry Nance Jr.’s explicit nickname looks pretty obvious when you put their names together. “Sexland,” as Nance calls them, even rolls off the tongue easily. Perhaps announcers can’t say it on live television, but the name will work around the locker room. Nance announced their “official” nickname on Twitter earlier today.
“I think we’ve all decided that these 2 officially go by Sexland,” Larry Nance Jr. said on his Twitter post. This came as a response to the Cleveland Cavalier Twitter account asking if anyone had ideas for their nickname. I guess whoever runs the Cleveland social media accounts did not realize they teed up this nickname. In the comment section, almost everyone suggested Sexland in the comments.
The Cleveland Cavaliers Promising Future
Starting off at 3-0 bodes well for the Cleveland Cavaliers, extremely well. After finishing in the last place in the east last year, this hot start already shows improvement. The Cavaliers also finished in second to last in the 2018-2019 season, one year after making it to the NBA finals.
As of right now, it looks as if the Cavs have used their draft picks well. With “Sexland” holding down the backcourt, Kevin Love still playing at a high level, and players like Larry Nance Jr., Andre Drummond, and Isaac Okoro putting in playing time, the Cavaliers could turn into a dangerous team this season.
