The Los Angeles Dodgers are champions having beaten the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 on Tuesday to claim the title, and Lebron James wants a parade.

As with all World Series-winning teams, the Dodgers are preparing for a big-time celebration. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James tweets that he would like to join in on the celebration. He also stresses extra safety measures.

“PARADE PARADE PARADE!!,” James tweets. He follows up the tweet with five smiley face wearing protective mask emojis.

James also put out another tweet encouraging Los Angeles to celebrate with their fans in what has been a big year.

“Man can we PLEASE have a parade!!!” James tweets. “I know I know we can’t but DAMN I wanna celebrate with our Lakers and Dodgers fans. LA is the city of CHAMPIONS.”

Twitter Reacts to Lebron James Wanting Parade

Shortly after posting the tweet, James was met with a swift reaction on Twitter. Many slammed him for wanting to have a celebration amid the coronavirus pandemic, despite the NBA superstar hoping to do so “safely with masks.”

How Will L.A. Handle Potential Celebrations?

It isn’t yet known how the Dodgers plan to celebrate their championship. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has cast a shadow over all sports in 2020 and places limits on just how a team can relish their accomplishments.

The pandemic has also put a hamper on sports attendance this year with franchises across all major sports limiting attendance to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The NBA got creative with their safety measures, moving teams to Orlando where they had their games inside of a “bubble” to complete the season. The league also held its playoffs inside the bubble in an effort to keep players, coaches, and NBA officials safe from COVID-19.

The Lakers took home this year’s NBA championship by defeating the Miami heat in series that went six games. James was crowned Most Valuable Player of the series, becoming the first ever player to win the award with three different teams, according to ESPN.
