Youtube creator Logan Paul has now added round-the-clock security after boxing champion Floyd Mayweather threatened to kill his brother, Jake Paul.

During a face-to-face press event last week, Mayweather got into an altercation with fellow Youtuber Jake Paul after he stole his hat. Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather are set to go head-to-head in the ring on June 6 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

According to TMZ Sports, on Monday, Paul said that he and his brother were adding additional security after the undefeated champ reportedly threatened to “kill” them during their press conference. Logan Paul said he wasn’t taking any chances even if Mayweather didn’t mean the threat.

“When you have a guy with the resources and the wealth that Floyd Mayweather has and the connection and the network, and he’s saying, ‘s—t, I’mma kill that motherf—ker.’ Kill? Death? You’re gonna kill my brother over a f—king hat? Yo, we take that s—t seriously, man,” Paul said about rationalizing his choice to get full-time security.

During the incident, Jake Paul got in Mayweather’s face while he was doing an interview. Jake Paul then decided to pull Mayweather’s hat off his head and then fled the area. Viewers could see people throwing punches in the video, and someone ripped Jake Paul’s shirt.

Tensions Run High Between Floyd Mayweather & Paul Brothers

The 24-year-old also untied Mayweather’s shoelaces when he was trying to record a live promo. After he stole his hat, an angry Mayweather shouted to Jake Paul, “I’ll kill you, motherf—er.”

Jake Paul later confirmed he was punched in the face by one of Mayweather’s bodyguards, according to TMZ. He said he had planned to take Mayweather’s hat from the beginning.

Mayweather, who is 50-0 in his boxing career, plans to square off against Logan Paul in an exhibition match on June 6. The match had previously been scheduled for February of 2021 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Floyd Mayweather, 44, is widely regarded as the best boxers of all time. He’s won 15 major boxing world titles, plus a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics and three U.S. Golden Gloves championships.

In contrast, 26-year-old Paul fought two amateur matches against British internet personality KSI. The match resulted in one draw and one loss by split decision. The highly-anticipated June 6 boxing event, will be broadcast on Showtime pay-per-view. The match comes as the latest installment in the ongoing showbiz boxing trend.
