Losing a bet as a professional athlete could lead to some public embarrassment. Even more than that, some public entertainment. Jalen Brunson tweeted about a bet he lost with Luka Doncic. Then, Doncic took that bet to a whole new level.

Brunson is a pretty elite Philadelphia Eagles Fan. So showing up to the Mavericks’ most recent preseason game with a Dallas Cowboys jersey was pretty traumatizing.

The jersey had the number 77 on it, which is Doncic’s number. The name on the jersey was “Luka’s Son.”

The friendly feud started when Brunson asked what jersey he should have to wear. Brunson then made fun of Doncic for not knowing who Terrell Owens is. Owens is a Hall of Fame wide receiver who played for part of his season with the Cowboys.

Now he is labeled as the “son” of his teammate forever.

Luka Doncic’s Upcoming Season

The two teammates play for the Dallas Mavericks. The team has wrapped up the preseason and is days away from beginning the regular-season opener.

In their most recent game, the Dallas Mavericks played the Minnesota Timberwolves in the final preseason game on Dec. 17. Doncic had not his best game but helped build a 15-point lead in the third quarter. The team lost in overtime.

According to Basketball Reference, Doncic had 28 points and 8 assists in his 2019-2020 season.

Luka Doncic is entering his third NBA season and is a favorite in possibly winning his first MVP award. However, fans have been chattering about the player not looking in the best shape.

“I mean, people on Twitter say every stuff … But it’s true I’m not in my best shape. I will get there for sure. But, you know, I’ve never been a muscular guy, so what can I say?” Doncic told Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend.

As a 21-year-old in the league, he is breaking record after record. A few pounds isn’t going to determine what this season has in store for him and he isn’t taking that criticism seriously.

So, he added a few pounds during the pandemic, haven’t we all?
