McKayla Maroney: Gymnast to Model

There’s no question that McKayla Maroney has been making a name for herself in the Instagram world. However, she got her start to worldwide fame as a member of the United States American Women’s gymnastics team.

She and her teammates were nicknamed the “Fierce Five” during the 2012 Summer Olympics. During the event in London, Maroney and her teammates showed out, taking home the gold medal. Individually, Maroney walked away with the silver medal in the vault event.

It was just the second time in history that the American women took home the gold. And it was the first time they did so at the Olympics on foreign soil.
