It’s been an up and down Cup Series season for NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace so far in 2021. But in his mind, he can persevere through anything.

Make no mistake about it, professional racing — especially in the NASCAR Cup Series — is no easy feat. After all, Bubba Wallace has Toyota, Joe Gibbs Racing, Michael Jordan, and Denny Hamlin all on his side but he is still off to a rough start this year.

Wallace began his endeavor with the new racing organization, 23XI Racing, late last year. He has been the only full-time black driver in NASCAR’s three national series — Cup, Xfinity, and Truck. And he is the only black driver to win more than once in any of these series, making him one of the most successful in the history of NASCAR.

The driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry has also become a known figure for his activism on racial justice. His voice led to NASCAR strengthening their actions and efforts in that area. One of those displays of action came when they banned the display of the confederate flag at their race tracks.

It’s safe to say that he has had to overcome and persevere through a lot — not just this season — but in life.

“Perseverance. Word of the weekend. Started the day strong, but encountered some set backs. That’s life. Grit your teeth and get after it. We will improve, but proud of the @23xiracing comeback. Those @doordash colors were looking good in those lefts and rights!”

Loyal Fans Respond to NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace

Sure, Bubba Wallace hasn’t had the season that he had hoped for so far, but he has not lost any members of his loyal fan base. In fact, quite the opposite. Followers of the popular NASCAR star hit his latest Twitter post with replies to hype him up.

“Really proud of how yall stayed cool and kept digging,” one Twitter user said. “And the work you did once you finally got back on the lead lap Top 14s in 3 of the last 4 races… Big things are coming. That first win is just around the corner, I feel it.”

Another fan believes that Wallace would have a few top five or top ten finishes under his belt if it weren’t for car issues.

“Don’t think for a second that we didn’t notice how you’ve been running top 5/top 10 before issues in so many races this season. If the team can just have a clean race, we know you will be fighting for a win,” they explained. “Keep digging- our family of fans is so proud of you!”
