On Monday, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace shared a series of photos from this weekend’s double Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway.

The NASCAR Cup Series rolled into Long Pond, Pennsylvania over the weekend for races on Saturday and Sunday. Wallace and the No. 23 car finished Saturday’s race in 14th place. Additionally, the team had their best run of the season so far on Sunday when Wallace came in 5th.

While it may not have been a trip to victory lane, the NASCAR driver and his team are clearly making progress in their first year together. The 5th-place result is the first Top 10 finish for Wallace’s 23XI Racing team. The new team – co-owned by NBA icon Michael Jordan and racer Denny Hamlin – is surely excited to see Wallace inching towards his first win.

Following the weekend races, Wallace was clearly still riding high off a solid performance at Pocono. He posted a series of three behind-the-scenes pictures from both Saturday and Sunday on Instagram. Wallace shared two photos from Saturday when he was decked out in a black, white, and orange Root Insurance jumpsuit with matching car decals. In addition, he shared one photo from Sunday when the team utilized their Draft Kings sponsor’s colors of black, white, green, and orange.

“Just something about having the speed and the right guys in your corner… makes you want more,” Bubba Wallace captioned his post.

NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace Posts ‘Proud’ Message After Top-5 Finish

Following his best weekend of the NASCAR Cup Series circuit this weekend, Bubba Wallace was pumped for his 23XI Racing team’s results. As mentioned before, the No. 23 car had its best weekend to date at Pocono Speedway.

Previously, Wallace and his team had a season-high finish with an 11th place result at Dover International Speedway in May. However, the NASCAR team topped that result by six more spots during the second race on Sunday. Yet it wasn’t an easy ending to the race over the weekend.

During the final laps of the Explore the Ponoco Mountains 350, the No. 23 car found itself bunched up with numerous drivers hoping not to run out of fuel before the end of the race. Wallace later said that crew chief Mike Wheeler relayed a request after he hit the wall early on because of an aero push. Wheeler asked his driver to conserve two laps of fuel, which ended up being a great call down the stretch.

“That kind of put us behind so we knew we had to pull some strategy,” Wallace said. “I knew our car was good enough to be top 10 and execute. I didn’t know it was gonna come down to a nail-biter for fuel, but great call by Wheels, JR [Houston, engineer], everybody back at the shop that’s punching numbers, helping us calculate throughout the weekend. It’s a good day. Good weekend.”
