Denny Hamlin has had a very successful racing career. And, the 40-year-old driver is planning for even more success in NASCAR before his time behind the wheel of his race comes to an end.

In addition to his role as a driver, Hamlin is also an owner of the new – and popular – 23XI Racing team with legendary NBA star Michael Jordan.

But, according to a recent interview, the popular NASCAR driver is focused on reaching a very impressive milestone. That milestone is 60 career victories. And, he honestly doesn’t think it is out of the realm of possibility for himself. And, if he can stay healthy and behind the wheel for a few more years, it could happen.

Hamlin talked about his goal of winning 60 races during a recent interview with Air.Jordan.com.

“It’s a big number, and I’m 16 wins away right now,” Hamlin said. “Hopefully, I can do that in the next three to four years.”

Reaching such a milestone number of wins would be very important Hamlin, according to what he said during the interview. However, before he can reach 60 wins he needs to reach another milestone.

“If I can get to 60, it would be an amazing accomplishment, but I need to get to 50 first,” Hamlin said. “I’d be putting myself in the upper tier of all drivers who have ever done it.”

Hamlin Will Start in Front Row at Martinsville Speedway

Denny Hamlin will continue his chase to win 60 races – and be part of NASCAR royalty this weekend. The NASCAR Cup Series is at the Martinsville Speedway. The race is scheduled to begin around 8 p.m. on Saturday (April 10).

According to NASCAR.com, Hamlin is slated to start in the front row next to driver Joey Logano. Logano is in the pole position, but that shouldn’t keep Hamlin from battling all he can for another victory on his path to 60 wins.

However, with rain in the forecast, Hamlin and his fellow drivers might have to wait to get behind the wheel. We won’t know until we see what Mother Nature has in store. The rainy weather has already forced NASCAR officials to postpone the Cook Out 250 until Sunday (April 12).

NASCAR Star Denny Hamlin Already Has 44 Career Wins

According to his driver profile on NASCAR.com, driver Denny Hamlin has won 44 races during his career. Among these wins are an impressive three victories at the Daytona 500. He won that famous race in 2016, 2019, and 2020.

About his three Daytona 500 victories, Hamlin has also said: “I never would have dreamed of winning one, even though my childhood self felt differently. That race is so difficult to win because you need so many different things to go in your favor. You need skill, a fast car and a team effort when you’re on pit road. But you also need to have good luck, too. You have to miss the big wrecks when they do happen, and you have to know where to be in order to avoid those big wrecks. I’ve been very fortunate to come out unscathed for the last seven, eight years. It’s been a great run. I’ve just trusted my instincts on those types of races.”

Hamlin has also made it to one of the sport’s biggest stages – the playoffs – on 12 occasions. And, in 2019, he made it all the way to the Championship 4. In 2010, he finished the season in second place behind champion Jimmy Johnson.
