NASCAR racer Kurt Busch took to social media on to express his frustration with ongoing race delays.
Busch tweets a clip from the Movie “Groundhog’s Day” in which Bill Murray’s character smashes a clock with his hand. The movie is about Murray’s character reliving the same day over and over again. As a result, he gets angry much the same Busch and other drivers must be.
The completion of a playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway was postponed for a third day on Tuesday, according to Fox News. The cancelation is a result of heavy rainfall in the Fort Worth area.
The Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 was suspended after 52 of the scheduled 334 laps. Clint Bowyer had the lead ahead of Jimmie Johnson, Erik Jones, and championship contender Joey Logano at the time of the cancelation.
Bowyer, 41, recently announced his retirement after a successful 15-year in the sport. He already has his next job in line as he is to be an analyst for Fox Sports, according to Fox News. A 2008 Xfinity Series Champion, Bowyer has won 10 races in 15 years as a full-time Cup Series driver. He finished second in the 2012 season.
NASCAR Hopes To Race on Wednesday
NASCAR officials say they will try to get the race restarted at 2 p.m. local on Wednesday. The forecast calls for heavy rains to finally ease on Wednesday afternoon.
The series is up against the clock. The next race is supposed to take place in Martinsville, Virginia. It is the final race of the playoff’s round of eight before the finale set for Phoenix on November 8.
Busch and other NASCAR racers, are doing their best to keep themselves entertained while waiting for the race to begin. Some have taken to social media to make fun of the situation.
According to the Fox News report, other drivers played video games while the delay continued. Racing spotters stuck in their rental cars used the horns to honk out “Jingle Bells.” Joey Logano even asked the track president if he could assist with the drying process.
