Earlier today, NASCAR star Bubba Wallace posted a photo on Twitter with a powerful message. The photo was of a mural of Martin Luther King Jr. on a New Orleans sidewalk. It seemed to be painted onto an electrical box in the streets of New Orleans. The website cvunola.org written underneath it.

“Love more, hate not,” Wallace’s caption read.

Community Visions Unlimited

Community Visions Unlimited is the organization whose website was written beneath the painting. Founded in 1994, they focus on revitalizing New Orleans neighborhoods. They revitalize through housing and empowerment. Knowing the power of owning a home, Community Visions Unlimited helps families feel that joy. They also promote business development.

Community Visions Unlimited also beautifies New Orleans neighborhoods. For instance, they started the Metro New Orleans Street Gallery. The mural of Martin Luther King Jr. is an example of their “artified” power boxes in metro New Orleans.

Bubba Wallace Activism in NASCAR

Bubba Wallace has preached this powerful message throughout his NASCAR career and his life. He received national attention for his involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement earlier this year. Wallace also helped stop the use of the confederate flag in NASCAR races. Even with all of the chaos of 2020, Bubba Wallace remains positive. He plans to carry this momentum into the upcoming NASCAR season.

Recently, Wallace showed his support for another Black racer and Black Lives Matter activist on Twitter. Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, has found a ton of success in racing, winning 7 championships. Like Bubba Wallace, he uses his platform to speak out on civil rights. He continues to urge people to understand that the Black Lives Movement is about civil rights, not about politics.

“Simply incredible,” Wallace wrote in his post. He also quoted Hamilton saying, “to all the kids out there who dream of doing the impossible, you can do it!!!”
