Its race day for NASCAR fans across the country as one of the year’s biggest racing events is set for later today.

The 2021 Geico 500 NASCAR Race expects to take off this afternoon at 2 p.m. ET with cooperation from the weather. Fortunately, weather forecasters say the rain could hold off today at the Talladega Speedway in Talladega, Alabama.

As any NASCAR racing fan knows, the possibility of uncooperative weather on race day looms as a big concern. Severe weather or even just a rainy day can put a huge damper on any NASCAR racing event, up to cancelation. While there are likely to be some clouds in the sky during the Geico 500, it appears the rain will be kept a bay long enough to get the race in. The wind also expects to be a non-factor with gusts remaining under 10 miles per hour throughout the day.

NASCAR Weather Forecast Looking Good for Race

On NASCAR’s official site, a live weather update page can be found for racing fans to follow. While today’s forecast calls for cooler temperatures underneath an overcast sky, it appears there is only a minimal chance of rain. Fans attending the race can expect temperatures in the upper 50’s to begin the race. As the day progresses, the forecast calls for the overcasting clouds to move on and give way to clear skies. In other words — it is an excellent day for a race and fans won’t have to worry about sweating it out or keeping the sun out of their eyes.

The Geico 500 is one of the highest-profile races of the NASCAR season. It also takes place at one of the most notable NASCAR tracks in the world. Drivers will know exactly what is at stake today as they take to the Talladega Speedway. Today’s race is likely to have an impact on the overall standings as racers jockey for position. The Geico 500 is also one of the most popular and most-watched races of the season and today expects to be no different. The race will be available for viewing on the Fox Network as well as various streaming services.

NASCAR racer Denny Hamlin will have the pole position today. Following him will be Joey Logano, Martin Truex, Jr., William Byron, and Alex Bowman. Completing the top 10 qualifiers are Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, and Brad Keselowski.

We hope you enjoy today’s race NASCAR fans!
