NASCAR: Who Could Join Bubba Wallace’s Team Next Year?

At this point in time, Bubba Wallace is riding solo for 23XI Racing. The team is owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin.

Bubba Wallace is their only driver as he shows up to compete in his No. 23 Toyota to race full-time.

The question is — will Bubba Wallace have more members on the team come this time next year?

It’s clear that the team wants to expand to others drivers and grow their success rate out on the track. It only seems like a matter of time at this point, especially if they want to compete against other celebrity-owned teams like Trackhouse Racing Team.

Trackhouse Racing Team is owned by Justin Marks and Grammy-award winning rapper, Pitbull. This team also started this season and has already expanded to two cars for next year.

Now, fans of NASCAR are eager to see where 23XI could go for the next few seasons of racing.

Possible Racers For Team 23XI

There are four possible racers that seem to be the top contenders to join the rookie team.

According to Beyond the Flag, Kurt Busch is a good choice for the NASCAR team. Apparently, it was reported that he was the top choice to pair alongside Bubba Wallace. It helps that he is not returning back to Chip Ganassi Racing in 2022. Trackhouse Racing Team is actually acquiring Chip Ganassi’s Cup Series operation.

While it would have made sense to join Trackhouse, but that wasn’t the case. Ross Chastain, Busch’s teammate, instead joined their ranks, leaving Busch open for business. He has not made any comments insinuating retirement, so Busch really does seem like his destiny lies with 23XI.

Another potential free agent that could join the team is Matt DiBenedetto. He’s had a complicated season so far. He is currently set to be replaced by current Joe Gibbs Xfinity Series racer Harrison Burton for 2022. He has come up empty handy when it comes to Cup Series wins, however, he is on good terms with Hamlin. Denny Hamlin helped fund Go Fas Racing.

Other Potential NASCAR Drivers

When it comes to filling up a rookie team, why not fill it with rookie drivers? That’s why 23XI Racing is thought to be considering John Hunter Nemechek. The 24-year-old is one of the popular Toyota drivers.

All of these possible racers are speculation. If 23XI Racing is planning on expanding, it can be more complicated than purchasing a charter. However, the racing team is rumored to be merging with Front Row Motorsports in 2022. This could make the team a three-car team instead of a two-car team.

Michael McDowell is not under contract for next year and has just had his first career win. His veteran status could make for an excellent addition to the team.

As for Bubba Wallace, he just raced at the Michigan International Speedway and finished just barely in the top 10 when he secured that No. 10 position. AJ Allmendinger won the Xfinity Series race.
