The feud between NASCAR star drivers Alex Bowman and Denny Hamlin is not coming to a halt anytime soon. Bowman is, yes, really, selling t-shirts that simply read “hack” after Hamlin dissed him following Bowman’s win on Sunday.

Wait, what?

Yes, the bad blood between Alex Bowman and Hamlin is legit. After Bowman won in Martinsville yesterday in the NASCAR Cup Series race, Hamlin said this of Bowman, “He’s just a hack, he’s just an absolute hack. He gets his a-s kicked by his teammates every week. He’s just terrible. He’s just f–king terrible.”

Those certainly are fighting words. What got Hamlin so heated? Well, Hamlin was very close to claiming victory in Martinsville before Bowman accidentally spun him out in a rather unfortunate wreck. If you watched the race, it certainly looks like it was not entirely intentional by Alex Bowman.

What did Alex Bowman say about it?

Rather than squash the beef, though, Alex Bowman ramped it up. He added the “hack” t-shirts to his store. You can understand why Hamlin was so bad, to lose in that way so late in the race would elicit an emotional response. Hamlin did just that. Bowman said of the wreck, “It was really entertaining then. Not so entertaining when you’re living it,” Bowman said.

Alex Bowman did not stop as there said, “Just didn’t want to be a part of that, make us both look dumb. So I just tried to not be a part of it. I wasn’t going to try to do stuff like that. That’s not who I am. Yeah, I understand why he’s mad. I’d be mad, too. I drove off into the corner, got loose, spun him out. At the same time, I didn’t do it on purpose. If I did, I’d tell you. That’s part of it.”

The good news for Hamlin is that he still qualified for the title field after the race. This was the third time he has done so in the last years. Pretty impressive. However, he only clinched it by a mere eight points. It was a close call. It should be noted that Alex Bowman admitted to being a reality show fan in the past.

If Alex Bowman did try to spin out Hamlin, who led over 100 laps of the race, he does seem like the kind of driver who would admit he did, right? It was a rather unfortunate ending to what was an extremely exciting race at Martinsville. What did you think of the wreck? Was it on purpose? And what do you think of the response from Hamlin and Bowman releasing the t-shirts?
