When the basketballer partnered with Nike to create a youth basketball league, Kobe Bryant gave a shout-out to this nickname calling the youth basketball league the “Mamba League.”
Bryant later created the “Mamba Sports Academy.
Kobe Bryant and the other passengers on the tragic January 26 helicopter flight were heading to one of these games. Which his daughter plays when they tragically lost their lives.
The crash killed the 41-year-old retired Los Angeles Lakers star. And his thirteen-year-old daughter, Gianna who was wearing a jersey with the word “Mamba” printed on the front. The resulting investigations concluded that the crash was accidental when the helicopter flew into the thick fog in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley.
