Netflix NASCAR Series Starring Kevin James, ‘The Crew,’ Trailer, Release Date Revealed

Listen up NASCAR fans. There’s a new series coming to Netflix. The racing entity and dominating streaming service are teaming up on this new sitcom fittingly named, “The Crew.”

The show is hitting Netflix on Feb. 15, just one day after the season-opening Daytona 500, according to PopCulture.com. The trailer gives us a glimpse at “The Crew.”

Kevin James is pulling double-duty on this NASCAR-centric Netflix series. He’s acting and listed as an executive producer on the show. The video starts with James’ character arguing with Catherine (Jillian Mueller). She’s the new owner of Bobby Spencer Racing. The two continue to bicker about one of their drivers, Jake Martin (Freddy Stroma). However, Jake isn’t always the model driver. He often finds himself in unfortunate situations and is easily poked fun at.

The cast also includes including Gary Anthony Williams playing Chuck Stubbs, Sarah Stiles as Beth, and Dan Ahdoot as Amir. “The Crew” follows the race team as they come to terms with the change in ownership.

More Casting Details on “The Crew”

In addition to the release date and trailer, Netflix and NASCAR are sharing more details. Bruce McGill (“MacGyver,” “National Lampoon’s Animal House”) will be appearing in a guest role as Bobby Spencer. Bobby’s backstory includes being the former owner of his race team, as well as a former race car driver.

Paris Berelc will also be guest starring in “The Crew” as Jessica. She’s a young NASCAR driver and could potentially replace Jake. Jessica’s knowledge about cars and her marketability give her the edge that the new ownership is looking for. Kim Coates is also making an appearance. She appears in the trailer during a hunting trip.

NASCAR and Netflix Partner for New Series

NASCAR and Netflix teamed up for “The Crew.” It will even feature authentic racing footage, logos, and race cars. Some of that featured footage was collected from the Consumers Energy 400 and FireKeepers Casino 400.

Additionally, NASCAR’s managing director of entertainment marketing Matt Summers and chief digital officer Tim Clark both join the series as executive producers. They’re overseeing the authenticity factor of the comedy series.
