Jeez, Logan Ryan, this might be the best Christmas gift we’ve ever seen.
According to Rapaport, Ryan is getting a max of $31 million, with $20 million guaranteed. Yeah, that’s a solid Christmas haul, to say the least.
“A Christmas Morning we’ll never forget,” Ryan writes. “The @giants and I just agreed to a new 3 year deal. IM HERE TO STAY.
Merry Christmas! #TheMostVersatile #TogetherBlue”
Obviously, Ryan is ecstatic about landing a huge paycheck. But as Rapaport mentions in his initial report, this is the culmination of the former Tennessee Titan being willing to rely on his own talent after dealing with major issues in free-agency.
Logan Ryan Grinds Out New Start in NFL
Ryan has had a ton of success since coming into the NFL in 2013. Starting out with the Patriots in 2013, Ryan built his way to a starter role by his third season. While with New England, he won Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI.
With the opportunity for a lucrative second NFL contract, Ryan switched up New England for Nashville. After two seasons without an interception, Ryan nabbed four in 2019, but the team elected to let him go.
This leads into the free agency window of 2020, which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and saw drawn-out contract negotiations all over the league. Ryan held out for a contract he though paid him properly, not signing with anyone until the Giants offered $7.5 million on a one-year deal in September of 2020.
Since, Ryan has been a key piece of the Giants secondary, and the team didn’t waste much time locking him down for the future. After an uncertain 2020, the 29-year-old has clarity.
