After injuring himself on a third-quarter run, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will likely sit out for a game or two. An MRI on his hamstring revealed a hamstring strain from the injury. While the severity of the injury is insignificant, the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft will miss time.

Daniel Jones will likely make a return in week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals. If he still feels uncomfortable for that matchup, however, he should certainly return by week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. All of his coaches have prided him on his toughness, so he should make a hasty recovery. For example, when Jones had surgery on a broken clavicle while at Duke, he returned to practice in nine days. He returned to the game field just three weeks after the injury.

Daniel Jones spoke on his injury in his postgame press conference. “Yeah, just felt it on that play and didn’t feel like I could get a lot on it. I couldn’t really do what I needed to be effective and move the ball and throw it accurately,” said Jones. “Just look to rehab it, do whatever I can to heal it up as fast as I can.”

Colt McCoy to Start in Place of Daniel Jones

Colt McCoy, the veteran quarterback, will start in place of Daniel Jones in Sunday’s matchup against the Seahawks in Seattle. McCoy relieved Jones after his injury, playing just well enough to hold on against the struggling Cincinnati Bengals. He completed six passes on ten attempts for 31 yards, securing the 19-17 victory. He had no touchdowns, but he also had no interceptions.

McCoy entered the league in 2010 after playing college ball at the University of Texas. The Cleveland Browns drafted him, however, he spent most of his career with the Washington Redskins (now Washington Football Team). He has been a fairly reliable backup throughout his career and will hope to keep the Giants in the first place position while Daniel Jones is out.

Fans Reactions to Jones’ Injury

Many Giants fans were upset about Jones’ injury, but for the most part, they felt bad for him. The hope the injury isn’t severe and wish him a speedy recovery.

Some also noted how former quarterback, Eli Manning, never missed a game due to injury.
