Alvin Kamara played Santa for Saints fans when he delivered an NFL record-tying six touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas. But anyone who had the misfortune of facing the Pro Bowl running back in their fantasy football championship would have preferred coal.

Kamara set a new record for most fantasy points ever in a championship week. He scored 56.2 points in a standard league, CBS Sports said. That tops the previous high bar of 49.6 points set by Todd Gurley in 2017.

His six touchdowns also tied an NFL record. Only Gale Sayers (1965), Dub Jones (1951), and Ernie Nevers (1929) have crossed the goal line as many times in a single game. To put that into perspective against his current-day colleagues, Kamara scored more times in three hours than Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has in three months (5).

Though Kamara was humble about it. After the game, he passed out compliments like grandma did desserts at the Christmas table.

“It’s crazy. The O-line did a great job; I really didn’t have to do too much. And the receivers did a great job setting the edge and coming across and doing the dirty work,” Kamara said, according to ESPN. “It just feels good to have one of those days, just for the team, just for offensive morale. Like I always say, I’m not focused on personal goals and yards and stuff like that. As long as the team has success, then personal success will come.”

Kamara’s performance overshadowed another major NFL milestone Thursday night. Drew Brees became the first quarterback to throw for 80,000 yards in a career. Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is second with just under 78,500 yards, NBC Sports said.

The Saints also clinched the team’s fourth-straight NFC South title with the 52-33 victory at home Thursday.

Alvin Kamara Causes Meltdown on Twitter

Fantasy football players lost their minds over Alvin Kamara’s performance. With this being the championship week for more leagues, having Kamara on your team likely means having bragging rights in the break room at work for the next year. Though some people decided to get a head start last night.

While others just had to watch as their hard work this season was stomped to pieces by Kamara’s Christmas-themed, green and red cleats.
