Superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown is back in the National Football League and has a new mentor in his new team’s quarterback.
Brown signed to a one year deal with the Tampa Bay Bucs earlier this year and made his return to the practice field on Wednesday. It is the first time this season that the ultra-talented receiver has strapped on the pads and stepped onto a practice field. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter shares the news of Brown’s activation from the suspension list earlier this week.
“Buccaneers officially activate Antonio Brown off the reserve/suspended list,” Schefter tweets on Tuesday. “To make room for him, waived wide receiver Cyril Grayson.”
With Brown now in Tampa Bay, he and Bucs Quarterback Tom Brady have really hit things off, TMZ Sports reports. Meeting with the media after his first Buc practice, the receiver talks at length about his budding relationship with one of the all-time great quarterbacks in the NFL. Brady and Brown previously played together in New England, but Brown’s stay with the Patriot was a short one.
“Antonio Brown: I have been spending a lot of time, working on myself, being resilient,” NFL Reporter Aaron Wilson tweets. “Even when times got hard, staying in shape, not listening to the naysayers, good people around me to stay encouraged. I tried to check every box to make sure I was ready to go.”
Brown Talks Brady’s Influence
Upon signing with the Bucs, Brady invites Brown to live with him in Derek Jeter’s mansion. Sporting a “TB12” hat, the receiver tells reporters about Brady’s positive influence.
“Tom is my boys,” he says. “One of the greatest leaders to be around. He’s encouraging and always inspiring. He brings the best out of people around him. He wants the best for everyone around him.”
Brown, Brady, and the Bucs will take on the New Orleans Saints this weekend in a game that could have big implications come NFL playoffs time.
