NFL: Drew Brees Defends Taysom Hill Amid New Orleans Saints QB Controversy

New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees is coming to the aid of backup quarterback Taysom Hill as he is reportedly set to start Sunday’s game.

Many Saints fans had an adverse reaction to Hill being named the starting quarterback this week. Fans clamored for former first overall NFL draft pick Jameis Winston to be the new starter as Brees recovers from multiple injuries.

Now the future NFL Hall-of-Famer, Brees, is defending the team’s decision to ride with Hill instead of Winston. Brees took to social media late Saturday evening to back the former undrafted free agent from Brigham Young University. In the tweet, the quarterback touts Hill’s journey to the NFL and says he is a great man and teammate.

“Amazing story about Taysom Hill’s journey to the NFL,” Brees writes. “Everyone should watch! He’s one of the greatest men and teammates you could ever ask for!”

The Saints are set to take on their division rival Atlanta Falcons at noon today (Sunday). The Saints have a 7-2 record any many think they could represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl.

Brees Could Miss Several Games With Injury

Though Brees is the heart and soul of the Saints team, he will not play today as her recovers from injuries suffered in a recent game. The Saints put him on the Injured Reserve earlier this week, meaning he will miss significant playing time.

ESPN NFL Reporter Ed Werder says the quarterback will miss an undetermined number of games before he can return.
