NFL: Michael Strahan Auctioning Custom Cleats in Support of Providing Service Dogs to Disabled Vets

On Sunday, former Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan announced that he’s auctioning off a pair of custom cleats to provide service dogs to disabled veterans.

During the NFL on Fox pregame show, Strahan talked about the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” charity. Players around the league are creating custom cleats to be auctioned off to raise funds for their favorite charity. Strahan chose Patriot Paws, whose goal is “serving those who have served.” The charity raises funds to provide veterans with their own service dogs.

The former New York Giants player showed off a custom pair of cleats featuring his own dog, Enzo. Additionally, the cleats also feature the tag name “Patriot Paws.” He also mentioned that Enzo is a former service dog himself. Furthermore, fans that want to help out don’t have to bid on the cleats, they can also simply donate funds to the good cause.

“I love this program. And I love the fact you see all the different interests around the NFL from all the different players. And the fact that every little bit helps – in donations and some notoriety,” Strahan explained on the pregame show.

Strahan provided some more information on his favorite charity in the caption of his Instagram post.

“For #MyCauseMyCleats, I am supporting @patriotpawsservicedogs! Patriot PAWS’s mission is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities to help restore their physical and emotional independence,” he wrote.

Michael Strahan Celebrates Enzo’s 4th Birthday

The Good Morning America co-host often shares photos of his dog on his social media accounts. Enzo, a goldendoodle, is frequently seen at his owner’s side or lounging around the Strahan household. In August, Enzo’s family celebrated his fourth birthday. His football player dad made sure to mark the occasion on Instagram with multiple photos and a short message.

“Happy 4th Birthday to my boy Enzo! He still thinks he’s a lap dog and I’m not gonna break his heart to tell him he’s not! Lol #enzo #birthday,” Strahan wrote.

Furthermore, Strahan showed love for his furry companion in a letter called “A letter to my dog.” He says he loves to play catch at all times and loves his daily massage. Strahan goes on to read the heartwarming letter directly to Enzo as he sits beside his loving owner.

“Dear Enzo, I always thought I shouldn’t get a dog because I didn’t have enough time to take care of one. No time for walks and too many other distractions in life to make sure that a dog was cared for properly. When we got you the entire meaning of time changed. I love my time walking, playing and traveling with you. Opening the door to walk into the house fills my heart with joy. You have made time slow down, distractions go away and love fill my heart! Love, Michael,” he wrote.
