Fans can look forward to a star-studded lineup of performers for Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Feb. 7.
On Tuesday, the NFL announced that H.E.R. is slated to sing “America the Beautiful” during the Kick-Off Show.
In addition, Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church will perform the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
During last year’s game, Yolanda Adams took on the tradition, and the year prior, it was Chloe x Halle who had the honors.
In a celebratory post on Tuesday, H.E.R. took to social media to make the announcement. “I’ll be in Tampa Bay for the @NFL#SBLV to sing America the Beautiful as part of the Super Bowl on @CBS Kick-Off Show at 6 PM ET. Make sure to tune in!”
Her fans were ecstatic by the news, with someone commenting it was “well deserved.” Another commented, “Yes bring that Rawness.”
Many Expected to Tune Into Super Bowl, Players Yet To Be Decided
Even those who aren’t football fans will be tuning in to see her performance. One fan writing, “I don’t even watch football but I’m turning in for the performance.”
Viewers will also be tuning in to watch Sullivan and Church’s performance. It will mark the first time two singers have performed the song together since Aaron Neville and Aretha Franklin performed at the 2006 Super Bowl.
At the 2020 Super Bowl, Demi Lovato belted out the anthem, while Gladys Knight performed the song in 2019.
The full lineup of performances comes after the NFL announced The Weeknd would headline the game’s halftime show.
“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position,” the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer said in a statement in regards to the announcement. “I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”
While the performers are all set to take the field, it’s another story for the players. The AFC championship between Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC championship between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers will determine who plays in the forthcoming Super Bowl.
