What retirement? That’s right, Tim Tebow is back on the football field as he has officially signed a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tim Tebow’s Athletic Career

What can’t this man do? At the age of 33, Tim Tebow has already had a booming college football career, winning himself a Heisman trophy in 2007 and two National Championships as quarterback for the University of Florida.

He was drafted 25th overall to the Denver Broncos in 2010, beginning his notable professional career. In 2012, the Broncos traded Tebow to the New York Jets. After the season, he was released but signed deals with both the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he did not see any playing time with either team.

But that wasn’t the end of Tim Tebow’s career as a professional athlete. Nope. He then switched sports, playing minor league baseball, after signing a contract with the New York Mets. Tebow played left field and was a designated hitter. He retired from the sport in 2021.

But again, this still isn’t the end of Tim Tebow’s athletic career. On Thursday morning, Tebow signed a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. This time, the athlete will not be playing quarterback but tight end.

Adam Schefter, a reporter for ESPN, wrote on social media that Tebow will begin his battle for a roster position, per source.

“Tim Tebow signed his contract this morning with the Jacksonville Jaguars, per source. He will be on the field today for the team’s off-season program as he sets out to compete for a roster spot at tight end.”

Under the direction of new head coach Urban Meyer, Tebow will make his professional debut at the position.

Greg McElroy, a teammate of Tim Tebow’s when the two played for the Jets in 2012, said on SiriusXM that the team “tried switching him to tight end, and he wasn’t good.”

Many ex-NFL players and fans have questioned the decision by Meyer to sign the 33-year-old. According to ESPN, even “coaches on that staff don’t want to see it happen.”

Meyer has never coached in the NFL and has a history working with Tebow when the two were with the Florida Gators.

We are curious to see how Urban Meyers and Tim Tebow fare in the NFL for the upcoming season. Will Tebow end the side chatter about his ability to keep up in the NFL again? Or will this one-year contract be his last attempt on the field?
