NFL: Troy Aikman Speaks Out About Dallas Cowboys’ Championship Drought: ‘It’s Hard To Believe’

Fox NFL broadcaster and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman was a guest on The Musers on 96.7/1310 AM The Ticket recently. He discussed the current state of the Cowboys and the fact that the team has not been to the NFC Championship game since 1995 when he was quarterbacking the team.

Aikman says it’s hard to believe that the Cowboys have now had two-and-a-half decades go by since their last NFC Championship appearance.

“It is hard to believe. I mean, not only have the Cowboys not made it to a championship game, they’ve won four playoff games or whatever it’s been since 1995?” Aikman said. “This is the Dallas Cowboys. This is the team that had winning seasons for 20 years or whatever it was with Tom Landry and [Roger] Staubach and the Super Bowls.”

During the interview, Aikman reminisced about his time leading America’s Team and all the times they were competing for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. While he says he finds the current drought mind-blowing, he thinks it’s only a matter of time before they turn things around.

“It is mind-blowing, but with all that being said, the Cowboys are going to get it together, they’re going to make it to a championship game, they’re going to make it to a Super Bowl and they’re going to win a Super Bowl,” Aikman said. “It’s just when is that going to happen?”

He says he believes it’s going to happen with Dak Prescott at the team’s helm.

Troy Aikman Recently Had Controversial ‘Hot Mic’ Moment

The former Cowboys great got into some hot water while broadcasting the Tampa Bay and Green Bay Packers game on Sunday.

Aikman and his co-host Joe Buck were caught on microphone bashing military flyovers during the NFL pregame ceremony. The longtime co-hosts the game had went to commercial break. Defector Media shared a clip of the viral moment.

“That’s a lot of jet fuel just to do a little flyover,” said Aikman not realizing he was on-air.

“That’s your hard-earned money and your tax dollars at work!” Buck responded jokingly.

“That stuff ain’t happening with [a] Kamala-Biden ticket. I’ll tell you that right now, partner,”

Aikman said before the conversation ended.

Yesterday, Aikman broke his silence regarding the incident.

According to the Washington Post, a military jet flyover can cost around $60,000 per hour. However, military officials say there are some benefits including pilot training and helping them with recruiting.
