Things aren’t going well for the Dallas Cowboys. Actually, it’s mostly awful for the ‘Boys, and that was plain to see on owner Jerry Jones‘ face, according to Twitter.
During the second quarter of the 9-23 beating Dallas took against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the NBC cameras caught Jones in the VIP booth at Lincoln Financial Field. He looked unhappy — to put it mildly. And Twitter quickly turned him into a meme.
Now 2-6, the Cowboys dropped to third place in the NFC East behind Philadelphia and Washington. The team has a lot of problems. Most importantly seems to be their laundry list of injuries. For instance, Quarterback Dak Prescott is now out for the season. And the shortened offseason because of coronavirus has made switching to defensive coordinator Mike Nolan’s new defensive scheme a struggle.
There’s infighting in the locker room, as well, with new coach Mike McCarthy. Though, he still believes the team is moving in the right direction.
“We’re running out of time,” McCarthy said after the game, according to USA Today. “We understand that as far as where we are in the season. [But] I thought our defense played with tremendous pride. We knew we needed to stop the run. And I told our guys we needed takeaways. I thought clearly that our defense took a huge step.”
Jerry Jones Wasn’t The Only Meme From The Game
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Jerry Jones’ smirk wasn’t the only meme-worthy moment from the Sunday Night Football game, USA Today said. Another happened when Ben DiNucci, in his first start as Dallas’ quarterback, chucked a sidearm pass that even his wide receiver couldn’t believe. Most of Twitter felt he had showed Uncle Rico energy.
For his part, DiNucci had an OK start, and he even had some jokes afterward.
“This NFL thing, it’s hard,” he said, according to USA Today.
