Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is emotional about his recent injury. Beckham makes his first comment about the incident with a message released via social media.

According to ProFootball Talk on NBCSports.com, Odell Beckham Jr.’s message reads like this, “I just wanna thank you all for Checkin on me… this is tough really — tough, I really don’t have many words right now definitely not the right ones at least. I couldn’t tell u why this happened, this one doesn’t make much sense, it’s not for me to question, but I believe God truly has a plan and is using me for it. A ton of emotions flowing.. just takin some ME time, some time to heal. Thank u all for the Luv… be back soon.”

A screenshot of the text’s also been shared on Twitter by SportsCenter.

Beckham’s comments came five days after suffering the season-ending injury. The accident happened when he was trying to make a tackle following an interception against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This situation is something that happens often in professional football, and many athletes bounce back with recovery and rehab. Some rely on faith to get them through difficult times such as these. One example, stated by ProFootball talk, is the time that Russel Wilson said God made him throw four interceptions during the 2014 NFC title game.

There’s been no announcement of when Beckham will undergo surgery for his most recent injury. He did undergo an MRI that confirmed the torn ACL. Furthermore, he also had an off-season surgery in January to repair a hip and groin injury.

He’s looking at this as a setback, and plans to make a full recovery for the 2021 season.
