The Super Bowl did not go the way that Patrick Mahomes, his mother and the Kansas City Chiefs thought it would.

The Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week in the championship game by a final score of 31-9. The Bucs were dominant on both sides of the ball as the Chiefs never got any momentum going. Appearing in the big game for the tenth time, Tom Brady took home the game’s Most Valuable Player award. Brady threw three touchdown passes, completing over 70 percent of his passes to earn his seventh Super Bowl victory.

Things were not so great for the Chiefs as they struggle to muster any offense or make stops on defense. Much of the credit goes to Tampa Bay’s defense, but the struggles of the Chiefs was highly evident. Mahomes, last year’s Super Bowl MVP, was held in check and never seemed to find any rhythm throughout the game. Lead by their quarterback, the Chiefs had one of the league’s most explosive offenses through the regular season. Mahomes, however, went ice cold underneath the NFL”s brightest lights.

Mahomes completed just 52 percent of his passes for 270 yards and was picked off twice by the Bucs defense. The statistic that really tells the story of the game is that Mahomes and company were held out of the endzone. The Chiefs were forced to settle for three field goals and they never really put a dent in the Bucs’ early lead.
