These two Saints may not have marched, but they celebrated Thanksgiving together. New Orleans’ quarterback Drew Brees invited his replacement Taysom Hill over for a little turkey, football, and celebrating.

On Instagram, Brees shared a group photo of the two football families together on the holiday. Brees captioned the photo, “Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday! Nothing like turkey, football, and kids running around the house… when the boys found out @ts_hill was coming over they put on full pads! Ready!”

Drew Brees Praised Taysom Hill as Quarterback

While he recovers, Brees has been acting as a mentor to Hill in the quarterback position. Brees is recovering from several injuries. The team currently lists him as Injured Reserve and expects him to miss several games. The Saints named Hill his replacement over former first overall NFL draft pick Jameis Winston.

Brees defended Hill against the controversy. Hill played his first game last Sunday (Nov. 22) in a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The starting quarterback led the Saints to victory and received praise from Brees.

“Listen, I thought he played great. I thought he managed everything about this week, about the preparation and then obviously just the way he played,” Brees told Pro Football Talk. “I thought it was magnificent.”

Throughout his career, Hill has been versatile and filled a number of different gaps on the Saints’ roster. Brees commented on the player getting the spotlight.

“Obviously, we know the role that Taysom has played up to this point, as a guy who comes in, as a physical runner. Obviously, he has caught a bunch of passes. He’s blocked for a bunch of guys. He’s done so many things. Yet, I felt like (Sunday) was an opportunity for him to showcase so many of his other talents, really his ability to play the quarterback position all the way around. I felt like he was great in and out of the huddle, great with the tempo.”

Hill will lead the Saints against the Denver Broncos on Nov. 29.
