Bubba Wallace’s Relationship With Amanda Carter
As previously reported, Bubba Wallace and Amanda Carter began dating around 2016. Wallace announced the couple’s relationship in 2018, revealing at the time, “Our love is so strong that ya wouldn’t know we’re polar opposites. Thanks for balancing me out the last 2 years!”
In June 2020 following the controversial incident at Talladega, Amanda took to her Instagram to announce her support for Bubba Wallace. “I am so proud of you for standing up for what is right and continuing to do so without fear of the outcome,” she writes. Amanda then says she is also proud of Bubba for using his platform to address the situation.
“I wish the people saying hurtful comments knew you. I wish everyone knew you. I hope people continue to stand with you because you’re standing for so many others,” Amanda then declares. “For those who have stood with Bubba, keep standing.”
Amanda has since posted some adorable pictures of her and Bubba on her social media accounts and has notably been super supportive at racing events.
Bubba Talks Mental Health Struggles
During a May 2021 interview with AutoWeek, Bubba Wallace spoke about his mental health struggles. “THere’s a stigma that, if you’re on TV, are an athlete or celebrity, that you don’t have problems,” Bubba explains. He then states that he is trying to erase that stigma because he continues to say that depression doesn’t care who you are.
“It doesn’t care how much money you make. It doesn’t care what you look like. It doesn’t care,” Bubba Wallace continues. The NASCAR racer further explains that one day things are great and good, then the next day, people struggle. “You’re just down in the dumps and then you have to go in public, put on your best face, show up, and do your job. There are days where it’s really hard.
In April 2021, Bubba Wallace was also pretty candid about his experience with depression. He shared on Twitter, “Put yourself in my shoes or anybody’s other than yourself for once. Imagine coming out about depression and still dealing with it on occasion because, oh by the way, it’s real and doesn’t care who you are…”
