Pitbull Becomes Co-Owner of NASCAR Team After Loving Sport Since ‘Days of Thunder’

Pitbull has entered the world of NASCAR. And the rapper is being welcomed with open arms by one of the sport’s biggest names.

According to reports, the rapper has joined the ownership group of the new Trackhouse Racing Team as of Friday (Jan. 15). NASCAR.com is reporting that Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Perez, is celebrating his new role on the team as well as his birthday today. He is a Grammy Award-winning artist.

The Trackhouse Racing Team is co-owned by Justin Marks. The team will make its debut this season in the NASCAR Cup Series.

So what prompted the entertainer to want to be a co-owner of a NASCAR team? According to TMZ, it was one of Tom Cruise’s most popular early movies. Pitbull announced his new venture on Twitter as well.

“I’ve been a fan of the @NASCAR story since the movie ‘Days of Thunder’, now I’m an official co-owner of the @TeamTrackhouse racing team,” he posted. “Thank you Justin Marks, Ty Norris & Daniel Suarez for the great opportunity. This is a great way to celebrate by 40th bday, so Get Ready! Dale!”

Driving for Pitbull and the Trackhouse Racing Team will be Daniel Suarez. According to TMZ, he was happy to have his new owner join the team. “Welcome to the family amigo,” Suarez said. “Daleeee!!!🔥🔥  Big things are happening.”

Pitbull Welcomed to NASCAR

Bubba Wallace, the 27-year-old standout NASCAR driver, took to Twitter on Friday to welcome Pitbull to the racing world.

“Welcome to the sport Pitbull,” Wallace posted. “Pretty dope!”

Team Trackhouse Racing has also shared excitement to have Pitbull on board via Twitter. Owner and founder Justin Marks opens the minute-long video that was posted Friday afternoon. Of course, the background music is Pitbull’s “I Believe That We Will Win.”

“NASCAR racing is about pushing boundaries,” he says. “For the Trackhouse Racing Team that means more than just winning on the racetrack. It means winning in America’s communities, empowering our youth, giving a voice to the unheard, and impacting all races – on and off the racetrack. This is Trackhouse. This is 2021. And I am proud to welcome Pitbull as team partner. I believe that we will win.”

The video closes with Mr. Worldwide himself, saying: “Bottom line, no matter what – face everything and rise.”
