It is safe to say that professional hockey players are tougher than just about any of us regular, everyday kind of people. And that goes double for P.K. Subban, a defenseman for the New Jersey Devils.

During Sunday night’s game between the Devils the Pittsburgh Penguins, Subban wound up getting his thigh cut open by a skate. We aren’t talking a little gash here. This was the type of wound to make the average person pass out if they aren’t ready for it. As a warning, the photos below are graphic.

The 31-year-old defenseman posted a few gory photos to his official Twitter page following the game. Subban managed to get stitched up in the middle of the game and get back on the ice without missing a beat.

As you can see by the pictures, Subban sustained a pretty gnarly-looking wound. Not only did the New Jersey star hop back on the ice, but he went on to net a goal around the midpoint of the third period. That score brought the Devils within two, however, they still ended up losing by a final score of 5-2.

“Never missed a shift…😈😤” Subban wrote on Twitter.

P.K. Subban and Lindsey Vonn End Engagement

While P.K. Subban now has to heal from a cut-up thigh, it wasn’t all that long ago that he was healing from a broken relationship. The NHL star was engaged to Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn after being together for more than three years. However, the 36-year-old Olympic skier announced that the two were splitting up back in December.

“Over the past 3 years, PK and I have had some incredible times together. He is a kind, good man, and someone I respect a great deal,” Vonn wrote in her Instagram post alongside a photo of the former couple. “However, after much consideration, we have decided to move forward separately. We will always remain friends and love each other immensely. We ask that you please respect our privacy during this time.”

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Subban shared a photo of the couple as well as a message.

Lindsey is one of the most kind and caring people I know. I will always treasure our time as a couple together and the many laughs we shared,” he wrote.

Vonn and Subban always seemed like a happy couple. And if Subban’s ability to bounce back from a huge gash in his leg is any indication, we think he will be just fine when it comes to bouncing back in the dating world.
