Tonight’s fight card features not one, but two Garcias. Lightweight Sean Garcia, the younger of the two brothers, faced Rene Marquez in the earlier fight of the night. Older brother and lightweight sensation, Ryan Garcia, will fight against Luke Campbell for the vacant WBC interim lightweight title later on.

With two kids in the ring tonight, the two brother’s father, Henry Garcia, sat in with the announcers before Ryan’s fight. In his time in front of the camera, one of the reporters asked a strange and rather inappropriate question for live television.

“You make them strong, you make them pretty,” the reporter said to Garcia. “Pretty good sperm you’ve got there, sir.”

Henry Garcia, obviously taken aback, laughed nervously in response to the off-putting question. Despite the questioning, Garcia was able to watch both of his sons fight to defend their undefeated title.

Sean Garcia Remains Unbeaten

Sean Garcia, younger brother to Ryan Garcia, remained unbeaten after a long and difficult bout with Rene Marquez. The fight went longer than expected with Garcia the clear favorite, but Garcia did pull out the victory with a majority decision.

Overall, the younger Garcia landed more punches than Marquez. He landed 48 of 161 to Marquez’s 30 of 185. Garcia also landed 43 power punches to Marquez’s 22.

Ryan Garcia Looks to Take the Interim Lightweight Title

Ryan Garcia, like his younger brother, is an unbeaten lightweight boxer. He has won 20 fights without losing, claiming an impressive 17 KO’s along the way. Luke Campbell, his opponent, has not fought since losing to Vasily Lomenchenko in 2019.

The fight should prove close with a young star fighting a veteran fighter. With that said, Ryan Garcia certainly has momentum coming into tonights fight as he has won four of his last five fights by stoppage. With Campbell needing to brush off some rust, Garcia should have an advantage tonight to remain undefeated.
