Sasha Banks To Serve as Honorary Starter for 2021 Daytona 500

It looks like WWE Superstar Sasha Banks is adding another chapter to an incredible run by serving as the honorary starter for the Daytona 500.

Banks, who has appeared in the third and eighth episodes of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” will take on this role on Sunday at Daytona International Speedway. In “The Mandalorian” episodes, Banks uses her real name, Mercedes Varnado, for a screen credit.

“I am honored to be the official starter of the Daytona 500,” Banks said in a statement. “I would like to thank NASCAR and our partners at FOX for this opportunity.”

Banks also said that she “can’t wait to get out to the track in front of the great fans and find out which driver has what it takes to be a ‘Legit Boss.’”

NASCAR on FOX will carry the 63rd running of the race, which kicks off the 20201 NASCAR Cup Series Season. The race starts at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Valentine’s Day.

For Sasha Banks, she is on a roll. She captured the “SmackDown” women’s heavyweight championship last October and continues to take on challenger after challenger. Banks and her fellow “SmackDown” pro wrestlers for WWE are on Friday nights on FOX.

Sasha Banks Celebrates Turning 29 With Some Photos

Back in January, Sasha Banks celebrated her 29th birthday. She’s been showing up regularly on “SmackDown” to uphold her women’s heavyweight championship.

But Banks decided to share with her fans some photos she had taken to celebrate her birthday. Banks uses her real name on her Twitter account.

Opponents know better than to sleep on Banks, who is liable to put them in her “Bank Statement” finisher.

She’s had quite a career in the WWE, winning championships both on “Monday Night Raw” and now on “SmackDown.”

Sasha Banks also looks forward to future acting opportunities. It was a little bit of fate that worked in her favor leading to “The Mandalorian” role. She was looking through her Instagram DMs (direct messages) and happened to see one from a casting director.

The message said, “Jon Favreau really wants to interview you for something for Disney,” Banks said via The Hollywood Reporter. “And the next thing I know, I got a FaceTime from him and he told me about ‘The Mandalorian.’ I just couldn’t even believe it. At the click of my fingers, we were shooting on set and now it’s here. It’s so awesome.”

Yes, awesome is one word to use for the success that Sasha Banks has been having over the past few months.
