In a stunning blockbuster trade in the National Football league, Jared Goff is heading to the Detroit Lions.
Goff, now 26-years-old, was traded along with several draft picks to the Lions in exchange for quarterback Matthew Stafford. In addition to a new starting quarterback, the Lions will get two first-round draft picks from the Rams.
Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay is now Goff’s former coach, but his former star quarterback isn’t completely out of his life. McVay and his fiance, Veronika Khomyn, recently took a vacation trip to Mexico. While there the couple took several photos together and Khomyn shares many of them on her social media pages. Some of the photos show the happy couple having fun and soaking up the sun. Khomyn also posted several selfies while south of the border.
“Not ready to leave paradise,” she writes in the caption. The social media post took in more than 2600 “likes” shortly after its posting.
Jared Goff heads to Detroit, ‘Trolls’ on the Loose
While her intention was to showcase the fun that she and her future husband are having, some NFL fans took it as an opportunity to troll the coach on trading away the team’s quarterback. Many used the photo to question McVay about acquiring Stafford and the heavy price the team gave up for the 32-year-old quarterback. Others wonder aloud about the coach being out of the country when the trade went down.
“Thoughts on the new quarterback?” one social media user asks in the post’s comment section.
“Coach looks very happy with his new quarterback,” another one says.
While the comments from Rams fans may have been a little irritating for the couple, it didn’t appear to get out of hand. The couple didn’t respond to comments or questions about Goff and most likely got a good laugh out of it.
Last offseason, Goff signed a four-year contract extension with the Rams making him one of the highest-paid players in the league. He then proceeded to have a down year despite the team’s success. The Rams won a playoff game this season before losing to the Green Bay Packers the following week. Goff finished the year with 3,952 yards passing and 20 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
