Shaquille O’Neal admitted that he tells his children all the time, “We ain’t rich. I am rich.”
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Shaquille O’Neal has an estimated net worth of $400 million. The basketball legend also revealed that his child has a standard they each must uphold in order to receive any money from him.
“You gotta have bachelor’s or master’s [degrees],” Shaquille O’Neal explained. “And then if you want me to invest in one of your companies, you’re going to have to present it. Boom, boom, boom. Bring it to me. I’ll let you know. I’m not giving you nothing.”
Shaquille O’Neal then shared the main thing he wants his children to really focus on is education. “I don’t care if you play basketball. I don’t care about none of that. Listen, I got six kids. I would like a doctor. Somebody to own a hedge fund. A pharmacist. A lawyer. Someone that owns multiple businesses. Someone to take over my businesses.”
Shaquille O’Neal goes on to add, “But I tell them I’m not going to hand it to you. You gotta earn it.”
Shaquille O’Neal Speaks Out Against His Own ‘Celebrity Status’
During a September 2021 interview with the New York Post, Shaquille O’Neal revealed his true thoughts about his own celebrity status. “These celebrities are going freaking crazy and I don’t want to be one,” the former NBA star declared. “I denounce my celebrity-ness today. I’m done with it.”
O’Neal explained his thoughts about the subject by stating that celebrities are “crazy” and he doesn’t want to be called one anymore. “These people are out of their freaking minds with how they treat people. What they do. What they say. That’s never been me. I never want to be looked at like that.”
Shaq goes on to admit that celebrities like him are stereotyped because most celebrities are out of their minds. He also declared that he is a regular person who listened, followed his dreams, and made it.
“I came from nothing. But, just because I made it doesn’t mean I’m bigger than you. Smarter than you. Just because I have more money doesn’t mean I’m better than you. I’ve never been that way. And I never will be that way. So I don’t want to be in that category of people.”
