On an NFL field, there are few better combinations than Tampa Bay Bucs’ tight end Rob Gronkowski and quarterback Tom Brady.

The two combine for a lethal weapon that put the Bucs into this year NFL playoff and in contention for a championship. With all of their on the field success with the Bucs and previously the New England Patriots, the two have built a friendship off the field.

In his weekly media session, Rob Gronkowski talks about his relationship with Brady and how it has blossomed over the years. The All-Pro tight end and Super Bowl champion recalls one of his favorite off the field Brady moments. Gronk, as he is known throughout the league, says the classic moment came as the two players were attending the Kentucky Derby.

“I asked Ron Gronkowski about his favorite off-field memory with Tom Brady,” ESPN reporter Jenna Laine tweets.

In typical Gronk fashion, the Pro Bowler tells a story that involves a party and an adult beverage.

“I would say going to the Kentucky Derby and seeing him take a shot,” he says. “Just seeing his face after, like disgust, like, ‘I’m putting this alcohol in my body. How am I going to throw next week?'”

The tight end says he believe it was “Fireball” that Brady ingested to bring about a look of shame.

Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady Ready for Playoffs

Gronk, Brady and their Bucs teammates are gearing up to face the Washington Football Team this weekend. The Bucs bring an 11-5 record into the matchup against Washington. Much of the team’s success falls directly on the shoulders of Brady and Gronkowski.

Brady, now 43-years-old, is having an MVP caliber season with 4,633 passing yards and 40 touchdowns to only 12 interceptions. Seven of those touchdown passes went to his favorite target, Rob Gronkowski. The 31-year-old hauled in 45 catches for 623 yards.
