On Saturday (Nov. 21), Adam Schefter dropped breaking news that Tennessee Titans superstar linebacker was placed on Injured Reserve. Jadeveon Clowney hasn’t practiced all week because of a knee injury.

This is yet another star NFL player to succumb to an injury. Moreover, the laundry list of Injured Reserve players continues to grow as Clowney is the newest addition.

As arguably the Titans’ best player on the defensive side of the ball, this is a tough break. The Titans are tied for first place in the AFC South, and this loss could be detrimental to the team.

Clowney has been very reliable for the Titans. However, he missed one game this year. Per NFL.com, Clowney has 17 tackles with 12 solo tackles and a forced fumble over 8 games. While those aren’t league-leading numbers, they are consistent with his play over the years.

Twitter Sounds Off on Clowney News

Of course, Titans fans are not happy with the news that Schefter shared. Furthermore, NFL fans, in general, are stirring the Twitter pot, so to speak.

In particular, one user points out that Clowney should close his career out now. While it is likely an overstatement from an angry fan, he is an integral part of the Titans’ defense.

Another user talks about how much money Clowney asked for while providing the Titans with zero sacks. Undoubtedly a shot at a player they would have liked to see more out of.

Clowney is playing on a contract worth 12 million, with the possibility of an extra 3 million in incentives. All in all an expensive contract.

It is safe to say that Titans fans are upset with how much money their team spent on a superstar who hasn’t provided their team with all that much.

Although Clowney has been stellar in the past, this year looks like it has been harder for the star linebacker. It is unclear just how long he will be out for with this injury.

If Clowney can come back this season and play at the top of his game, he will certainly prove his critics wrong. But only time will tell on that front.
