During a recent radio interview, NFL legend Terry Bradshaw joined Scott Donovan on the “Scott and Shannon Morning Show” to discuss the details behind his new bourbon.

“The bourbon idea was something I had wanted to do for a long time,” he revealed. Back in January, the Hall of Fame quarterback announced that he was partnering with Silver Screen Bottling Company to create his very own bourbon whiskey. Yet, this wasn’t your typical celebrity endorsement; instead, he was in on the project every step of the way.

“I don’t just want to put my name on a bourbon,” he said. He described the process. “I want to be in on the beginning of it. I want to approve the taste, I want to approve the marketing, I want to approve the bottle — nothing goes in this bottle without my approval.”

The bourbon, in stores now, features a blend of cinnamon, baking spices, vanilla, and coconut flavors. It’s also bottled at a 51.9 percent alcohol by volume, the same percentage as Bradshaw’s completion rate in the NFL.

“I just knew I wanted a good-tasting bourbon that would last and people wouldn’t get bored with,” Bradshaw continued. “We took 15 months to come up with the bourbon.” Distilled in bourbon’s spiritual homeland of Kentucky, Bradshaw’s Bourbon comes in at 103.8 proof, and the first batch is available to purchase online for $39.99 per 750ml bottle.

In addition, there’s also a tribute to an iconic Western show on the bottle. “I wanted a ‘Gunsmoke’ bottle,” he said. He added that he wanted to include James Arness. “I wanted him to put his hands around the top, and I wanted a smooth bottom. I didn’t want to gaudy it up with celebrity stuff.”

“There’s just nothing better than a fireplace, two fingers of bourbon, a great cigar and Pavarotti playing in the background,” Bradshaw said in a statement. “I’ve always appreciated a good bourbon, and now I’ll be enjoying my own!”

For Bradshaw, it’s one of his many business ventures. Throughout his long-spanning career, he’s recorded country and gospel albums, worked as a motivational speaker, and wrote several books. Now, he currently serves as a sports analyst on FOX’s “NFL Sunday.”

In addition, he’s also got his reality TV series: “The Bradshaw Bunch.” The series centers around Bradshaw, his wife Tammy Bradshaw, and their blended family. Erin and Rachel Bradshaw are his children from his marriage to Charla Hopkins, and Lacey Hester is his wife’s daughter.
