Texans’ Deshaun Watson Drops Cryptic Tweet About Having ‘Patience’

With rumors of unhappiness with his current team, Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson’s every word is being analyzed.

Watson, who is the Texans biggest name and franchise quarterback has made it known to his team that he isn’t pleased. The Texans fired head coach Bill O’Brien during the season to the dismay of some fans. Watson made known he wanted to be involved in the team’s search for a new coach and general manager. He has found discouragement in the team for not including him in their search for a new leader.

Watson took to social media on Tuesday to say he is searching for patience. He doesn’t specify why he is in need of extra patience but most believe the cryptic tweet is in regards to his frustration.

“I been trying to have some patience,” he writes in the tweet. “I told my momma she should pray on it.”

Also included in the tweet is a photo of Watson seemingly in deep thought. The tweet drew more than 26,000 likes shortly after it was posted.

Deshaun Watson Has Fantastic Season Despite Texans Woes

At only 25-years-old, Watson is already a marquee name in the NFL with soaring popularity among fans. He had another standout season for the Houston Texans this past year putting up MVP-caliber numbers in the regular season. Watson threw for 4,823 yards during the season with 33 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He ended the season with a quarterback rating of 112.4, which was one of the highest marks in the league. Watson is also a highly capable runner and accounted for several more yards with his feet.

Despite Watson’s heroic efforts, the Houston Texans had a poor season overall. They finished with a 4-12 record and were never a contender for the playoffs. They finished third in the AFC South behind the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts. The only team to finish with a record worse than the Texans were the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The chatter around the league is that Watson wants to be traded to a championship contender. He is allegedly upset that team officials did not take his head coach recommendations seriously and is ready to leave the franchise.

Last year, Watson signed a four-year contract with the Texans worth $156 million. The deal makes him one of the highest-paid players in the league. While the quarterback may be upset with the team, he has yet to formally ask for a trade.
