‘The Crew’ Brings Coming Humor, NASCAR Racing
In ‘The Crew,” Kevin James plays the crew chief of a NASCAR team. James also serves as an executive producer on the show. Other executive producers are Jeff Sussman, Todd Garner, Matt Summers, and Tim Clark. Directing all 10 episodes in the first season was Andy Fickman. Summers and Clark both work for NASCAR. Their jobs on the show are to make sure it is as authentic as possible.
Based on the trailer for the show, James’ character begins to butt heads with Catherine, the daughter of the man who owned the team James works for. Jillian Mueller is playing Catherine. A lot of the arguments between James’ character and Catherine revolve around one driver.
That driver’s name is Jake Martin. Freddy Stroma plays Jake Martin. It looks like Jake will be a significant source of comedy for the show. Freddy seems silly and not all that focused on his career. That leads to some mishaps. And, mishaps are great for comedy!
Jake won’t be without competition for his seat behind the wheel. Paris Berelc plays Jessica a new driver looking to take over for Jake.
Playing Bobby Spencer, the original owner of the Bobby Spencer Racing Team, is Bruce McGill. McGill is known for his roles in “National Lampoon’s Animal House” and “MacGyver.” In addition to being the former NASCAR team owner, Bobby Spencer was once a race car driver himself.
Other members of the cast include Gary Anthony Williams as Chuck Stubbs, Sarah Stiles as Beth, and Dan Ahdoot as Amir.
NASCAR was reportedly very helpful and essential to the production of “The Crew.” The sport even provided the show with footage, team logos, and race cars in an effort to make it as authentic as possible.
