Tiger Woods truly was touched Sunday by the show of support from his friends competing in the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship.

It was all about their wardrobe. Several of golf’s top stars honored Tiger Woods by wearing his Sunday colors. That’s a red shirt and black slacks. This was the standard uniform for Tiger Woods when he played on Sundays, whether he was in the lead or charging for it.

Woods posted on Twitter:

“It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts. To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

The PGA tweeted video clips of Tiger Woods performing on Sunday’s. One clip showed Woods walking a fairway, with a packed gallery shadowing his every move on the course.

Sunday Winner Said of Tiger Woods: “We Don’t Say Thank You Enough”

Collin Morikawa won Sunday’s tour stop. Stars like Rory McIlroy, Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas and Tony Finau wore red and black. Morikawa said of Tiger Woods “We don’t say `Thank you’ enough.”

Tony Finau also honored Woods during his Sunday press conference. Finau said:

“Red and black, we know that’s what Tiger does on Sundays, so just to join in and just let Tiger know we’re supporting him in the best way we can. We’re still playing and we miss him out here, but it was cool just to be a part of that.”

Woods Needed More Surgical Procedures, Friday

Tiger Woods suffered serious leg injuries last Tuesday in a one-car rollover accident near Los Angeles. Woods was in the area to promote a tournament. He still was recovering from back surgery he had in December.

Woods needed emergency surgery to repair his right leg. He sustained a compound fracture. Surgeons placed a rod in his tibia and stabilized it with pins and screws in order for the bone to heal. He was transferred from Harbor UCLA-Medical Center to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Wednesday night.

He needed more follow-up procedures, Friday. CBS Sports reported that Tiger Woods likely will be in the hospital for several more days. He may need skin grafts on his right leg. Doctors also need to keep him under observation to make sure his surgical wounds don’t become infected.

No One Knows Whether Tiger Can Return To Tour After Injuries

It’s unclear whether Tiger Woods ever will return to competitive golf. Even before his accident, he’d been battling back issues. He also had problems with his left knee. At 45, his body had endured a lot of wear and tear.

“I would say, unfortunately, it’s very, very unlikely that he returns to be a professional golfer after these injuries,” Gardner said of Tiger Woods. “His age, his multiple back issues, this is going to be a very long road ahead if he chooses to attempt to return to his previous level of golfing.”

One top orthopedic surgeon said he doubts Tiger Woods can return.

Dr. Michael Gardner is chief of orthopedic trauma at Stanford Medical Center. He said: unfortunately, it’s very, very unlikely that he returns to be a professional golfer after these injuries,” Gardner said of Tiger Woods. “His age, his multiple back issues, this is going to be a very long road ahead if he chooses to attempt to return to his previous level of golfing.”
